Here’s an interesting fact you may find interesting: the red Ferrari that Selleck famously drives around in the show was not originally envisioned in the script! According to the writers, it was a Porsche, but Selleck’s height precluded him from fitting in one. They swapped the Porsche for a Ferrari in order to accommodate Selleck’s 6’4″ height. That, we believe, was one of the best script changes the writers could have made. The show’s Thomas Magnum could not have ridden anything else.

Larry Manetti, who managed to play Rick Wright on Magnum, P.I., published his memoir Aloha Magnum in 1996. Fans awaited the reveal of all the show’s scandals with bated breath.
