Feeble excuses
The boss, caught in the act, tried to provide an excuse. “I was just playing,” he muttered, hoping to dismiss his actions as innocent fun. But the gravity of his actions, the agony they caused the innocent animal, could not be dismissed so lightly. Susan saw right through his lame attempt at rationalization, and her resolve simply became stronger.

Realization dawns
Susan quickly played the audio tape of his phone conversation in which he discussed plans to quiet John. As the incriminating words flooded the room, the boss’s expression shifted from shock to comprehension. The evidence was undeniable. His plan, his disrespect for the animals’ health and the zoo’s reputation, were all out in the open. The game was over.
