In the interview that took place in 2017, Emily Nash of Hello said the following: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are almost always seen in photographs taken during official engagements, so they are at ‘work,’ and it would be unprofessional for them to hold hands.” After that, she continued by saying, “They also need to shake hands with a large number of people as they meet them, so aside from being on duty, it wouldn’t be convenient!” She then went on to explain exactly why the royal couple would not show any sign of affection for each other in public.
