Stepdad’s arrogance

My stepfather, blind to my behavior, continued to behave superior in the house. He would yell instructions, make outrageous demands, and overall behave as if he owned the area. Little did he know that his unbroken reign was coming to an end. His apparent disrespect for everyone save himself just strengthened my determination. I made an effort to stay out of his path, so he wouldn’t notice my developing confidence or the behind-the-scenes preparations.
