A confidence boost
The lawyer affirmed that I was the rightful owner of the house, which gave me confidence. He explained the relevance of each document and helped me rehearse presenting my argument. My stepfather maintained his arrogant ways, completely unaware of the impending storm. Every piece of confidence I acquired from the lawyer’s reassurance made the imminent reveal seem more assured. My stepfather may have thought he had all the cards, but I actually had the winning hand.
