He, too, will soon begin to hear voices. Christopher couldn’t comprehend what they were doing because the sounds were so faint, but this gave him the strength to call out, “Who’s there?” He did not, however, receive any answer other than his own echo. Despite this, he had the bravery and resolved to locate the speakers.

He realized he was walking in water and dirt all of a sudden. Each time he took another step forward, his legs sank deeper into the sludge. He was able to locate a yellow ventilation device, but it had clearly seen better days. He also saw chains hanging from the walls, but they were in poor condition as well.
