Even though such a technique is repeated often, vintage items such as this camera are still found during the cleaning process due to the canal’s age. It’s difficult to figure out how these items ended up at the bottom of the canal in the first place, particularly because they predate the canal’s last cleaning. For all we know, men, both purposefully and accidentally, lose things in the canal regularly. Objects that are older than expected are also being discovered.

Even more, items occur and are discovered as the canal’s 90,000 cubic meters of water are drained. You’d imagine discovering outdated and dirty objects, and you’d be right. However, there were several other, more surprising results. Take this stuffed rabbit, for example. In comparison to anything else we’ve seen so far, it seems to be fairly new. The contrast between the nearly clean stuffed animal and the filthy-looking motorcycle below it is almost alarming in this photograph.
