Petula Clark – 88, Ewell
Petula Clark hasn’t appeared on screen since the late 1980s, but that’s not surprising. The Ewell native had a three-decade successful career as an actress, but she is best renowned for her work as a singer/composer. She began as a child, working for BBC Radio during World War II. Her first big hit, “The Little Shoemaker,” was released in the mid-1950s. Clark became famous throughout Europe after topping the UK charts in French, German, Spanish, and Italian. During her apparently endless 82-year career, she is estimated to have sold 68 million recordings worldwide!
