Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ in Charleston, South Carolina
If you ask us, not many people have celebrated whole-hog barbecue more than Rodney Scott. He is a James Beard Award winner who has honed his craft at the barbecue restaurant owned by his family in Hemingway. He went on to open his own joint in Charleston in 2016. On top of the traditional vinegary chopped pork, he offers pit-smoked chicken, steak, and turkey. The fried catfish is worth a try as well! Do not miss the sides. We are big fans of the creamy and peppery coleslaw, as well as the collard greens. If you want to try dessert, we believe that Ella’s Banana Puddin’ will be a great way to end the meal.

The Shed Barbeque & Blues Joint in Ocean Springs, Mississippi
The Orrisons have proven their worth on the competition circuit. The Food Network reality TV stars have given us an image of a barbecue family. Every member lends a hand, with Daddy-O in charge of whipping up the sauce. Brad is tasked with managing the pits, Brooke ensures that the ship does not sink, and Mom handles the marketing. Their award-winning competition specialty is the whole hog, but you cannot go wrong with any dish at their restaurant. The live music makes everything even better!
