During World War II, the first Wonder Woman comic book appeared in the United States. The makers of the television show chose the 1970s as the time period for the show to take place in. The attire worn by Diana Prince was somewhat distinctive as well. On hers was an eagle, which was an obvious reference to the United States of America. When the show was moved to a different network, this altered dramatically.
