No Vet Near The Area
Mark was fairly deep within the woods, and the veterinarian was quite a ways off. When he tried to reach Mark with the necessary equipment, he was unable to do so easily. In addition to that, he required specialized transportation in order to move through the forest. There was no alternative to doing so besides waiting.
