An invisible value
Gavin entered his father’s study, a room full of wisdom and memories. As he began to sort through the papers and books, he couldn’t see the stories each object contained. To him, old photographs, letters from decades past, and first editions of classic novels were objects without the sentimental value his father prized. They were just things to be appraised and sold, in Gavin’s mind.
A Wrong Beginning
He ruthlessly rummaged through his father’s belongings, discarding personal mementos without reflection. Childhood drawings, love letters to his deceased mother and handmade gifts from friends remained in the “discard” pile. Gavin’s sole objective was to turn it into money. The potential economic value drove his actions, not the emotional story those objects held.
