A Pass for Middle-earth

A hall pass is a piece of official paper that allows pupils to leave their classroom during class. Obtaining one can be difficult, especially if you don’t have a compelling reason to do so. This youngster received a pass sheet from their teacher one day that included “Lord of the Rings.” The teacher had to be a fan of the book or film series in order to use it to make a point. We can only hope that the pass was genuine and that no one was arrested because it had the names Frodo and Gandalf. These are two of the most adored characters in J.R.R. Tolkien’s literary epic of high fantasy.

A Snake Triad Project

Did you know that the 1806 class at Yale created the first bound yearbook on events, students, and faculty? Because photography had not yet been invented, the books contained printed silhouettes of students. A yearbook filled with images of hilarious and touching school memories will never be boring. It may even bring a few tears of nostalgia as kids recall their friendships and good times. It may also hold their instructors’ funny antics, such as when they got into a bit of trouble with a snake. If we had these teachers, we would go over our yearbooks every year.
