A dog having to go back to the shelter is never a happy event. When the requirements of a shelter are eventually satisfied and a dog is adopted, it could be difficult to return the dog. And to think that Benji has already been called back an incredible twelve times… Stacy and Benji arrived to find three other staff members already there because she had made prior arrangements. It was clear that they were disappointed that the adoption had failed, but they were also curious as to why since this was their final chance to hear the truth.

The problem with adoptions is that there is frequently no good reason to give them back. You only need to call the adoption center to let them know you want to send the puppy back. The institution must pick up and deliver the dog; they are not allowed to enquire as to what happened. They knew Stacy would tell them the truth even though Benji had been sent back to the shelter eleven times for various reasons. It would quickly become clear that they were unprepared to face the truth. Benjij’s eleven returns to the shelter raises the question of why this happened. What might be done to help this sick dog, and what was the problem with it?
