Solid Gold
Trash is accumulated in sewers, and not all of it is worthless. In 2009, the staff of a Japanese rehab facility got 5 million yen in gold. They were removing sludge when they discovered the precious metal. Since there were so many precision machinery makers in the region, they could use the metal. They found 1,890 grams of gold per ton of trash!

Luxury Watches
In fact, the canals hold more wealth than we realize. In 2012, a drain expert named Aaron Large uncovered four luxury watches in England’s drains. There weren’t just some old watches. They included a £21,000 18-carat gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph, as well as another Rolex and two other high-end products that he found a few days later. They finally found one of the watches to belong to its rightful owner, while they found the other three to be faked. Regardless, Aaron’s manager complimented him on his contributions.
