They Disliked Him
It seems that Michael misjudged how much more the hospital workers liked him than they actually did. They could even be said to have loathed him because they did not like him at all. They saw him as a pointless middleman who only served to increase their expenses. Patients would just go to them directly for assistance if he didn’t exist!
