Why would he tell me I shouldn’t have it? My husband, John, was out of town for work, so I had no way to ask him about it. There was a peculiar, burning desire within me to find answers. But John’s departure simply exacerbated my feelings of solitude. The ring, once a symbol of our unity, now felt like a jigsaw, with pieces scattered and concealed from me.
