Feeble excuses
The boss, caught in the act, tried to provide an excuse. “I was just playing,” he muttered, hoping to dismiss his actions as innocent fun. But the gravity of his actions, the agony they caused the innocent animal, could not be dismissed so lightly. Susan saw right through his lame attempt at rationalization, and her resolve simply became stronger.
