Diana was the first royal bride to break royal protocol when it came to her wedding vows. In general, royal brides are expected to read traditional wedding vows. Diana left out the word “obey” from her wedding vows. This was a huge deal that made headlines. When Kate and William married in 2011, they followed suit.
