The Real Danger Was Above Them
Mark pressed his radio button immediately. He told Central to cancel the predator alert and reported severe atmospheric pressure instability at High Meadow. For a moment, there was silence on the line. Then the chief dispatcher came on and asked him to repeat what he had found. Mark explained that the pressure readings were swinging sharply and that the sheep had likely been trapped inside a strange pressure disturbance.

Central checked the regional radar, and the tone on the radio changed instantly. A fast-forming storm system was building right over Mark’s sector, and a dangerous burst of rotating wind was expected to hit High Ridge within minutes. The order came through clearly: evacuate the meadow immediately. Just as the radio went quiet, a powerful gust tore across the field, flattening the grass. Above them, the sky turned dark and bruised purple.
