Then He Saw The Sheep Running In Circles
When Mark stepped out of the trees and into High Meadow, he immediately saw why people had called it in. A small group of tourists had gathered near the trail, holding up their phones and laughing as they filmed the scene. In the middle of the meadow, a herd of wild bighorn sheep was moving in a tight, frantic circle.

They followed one another blindly, hooves tearing through the grass and turning the ground muddy beneath them. Mark pushed through the brush and jogged closer. He stepped into the path of the lead animal and caught a young ewe by the shoulders, forcing her to stop for a moment. The sheep shook violently under his hands, breathing fast, her eyes locked on the treeline as though something invisible was about to attack. One tourist asked if the animal was sick. Mark looked around carefully and answered quietly: she was terrified.
