Maximilian Baer Jr. was the son of a boxing champion, and it appeared like he would follow in his father’s footsteps by becoming a sports celebrity. Instead, he was cast as Jethro Bodine in “The Beverly Hillbillies.” His career took off, and it would turn out to be a nine-year run. Because he was typecast as Jethro Bodine, this hampered him when the show ended. When asked why he didn’t follow his father in 2021, he stated that his father regarded boxing to be a religious sport because it was far better to give than to get, but he himself was not religious.
