President Barack Obama’s distinction of being the first (and, so far, only) president to tie the knot in the White House is noteworthy. But many people were more interested in who the president was marrying than in the actual wedding itself. Despite the fact that she was a 21-year-old lady (and thus 28 years his junior), she made an impression on him nonetheless. Her peers admired her for a variety of reasons, including her physical beauty, fluency in French, and overall personability.
